Most of us associate thinning hair with older people, or baldness. But did you know that hair loss from androgenic alopecia (or AGA) is common among women, too? The condition must also be discussed by 30 million women in the US! For some point in their lives, over 60 per cent of all adult women will have to struggle with thinning hair or significant hair loss.Do you want to learn more? Visit San Luis Obispo microneedling.
Rogaine ® is the only topical drug approved by the FDA for treating hair loss in men and women alike. It comes as a 5 per cent solution recommended for men to use, and as a 2 per cent solution recommended for women to use. After 3-6 months of use, around 40 per cent of Rogaine ® users should see some hair regrowth. Although it is true that only a small percentage of users will see modest regrowth, it is also true that only a small percentage of users will see substantial regrowth that is significant. Long-term results tend to rely on continued daily use of Rogaine ® for the preservation of any regrowth.
In July 2013, The International Journal of Trichology (the research and hair science) published on the findings of a groundbreaking research indicating that microneedling in conjunction with regular Rogaine ® treatments may be of great benefit in producing substantially greater hair regrowth for both men and women.
There were 100 people who completed a care program for 3 months. Half used as guided 5 per cent of Minoxidil (Rogaine ®). The other half did that too, but also with frequent microneedling treatments applied to the scalp. There were some significant variations after 12 weeks!
Of the category Rogaine ® + microneedling, 82 per cent thought they had an increase in hair regrowth of more than 50%. Just 4 per cent of the Rogaine ® community felt they had this degree of change!
During the treatment period microscopic measurements of the scalp hair density revealed that the Rogaine ® + microneedling community had an average of 91 hairs per square centimeter of scalp. Density was a mere 22 hairs per square centimeter of scalp in the Rogaine ® category only. That means that the treatment protocol combining Rogaine ® + microneedling resulted in more than 4x the number of hairs increasing as obtained using Rogaine ® alone!
But why would microneedling-the legendary smoothing facial skin office technique-have some effect on the growth of scalp hairs? Microneedling therapies affect many rejuvenating and beneficial skin changes, which involve stimulation of the growth factor. Development factor has several very strong effects on hair follicles, and induces hair growth directly. Microneedling also produces tiny temporary microchannels in the skin allowing the Rogaine ® to have more direct access to the hair follicles, further and more effectively stimulating hair production!
If you had considered taking measures to treat hair thinning or real baldness areas, Rogaine ® therapy combined with microneedling would seem like a very promising choice! To know more, consult your local board certified plastic surgeon and their professional aesthetician.
