It’s not convenient to settle for a hydraulic hose. You know you need one, but at times it can be mysterious just what sort of hose. Unless you’ve become familiar with all aspects of the industry, there’s a very good chance you won’t be familiar with the different types of hydraulic hose on the market. We should (very) outline briefly, before anything else, the basic construction of a hydraulic hose. A standardized, three-layer hydraulic hose. The first layer is an inner loop, selected to be consistent with the form of liquid the carrying would owe. The second later is a later reinforcement consisting of tightly braided or coiled wire which protects the inner tube from splitting. Finally, the third layer is made of a rigid material, designed to protect the inside of the two layers.
Such common hydraulic pipes are straight and have no small bend radius (if any).
Now on to the other construction types:-Coiled: Semi-stiff but designed for expansion and easy storage, these hoses resemble thick Slinky’s and can often be seen on an articulated lorry between the tractor and the cab. These hoses can easily stretch without putting pressure on the inside of the pipes and restricting flow.
-Corrugated: This is a different method of expanding and flexing the hose without stressing the hose. Such hoses can extend quickly, built in a concertina pattern.
–Reinforced: Similar to the generic hydraulic hose, and usually straight, this type of hydraulic hose has an extra layer of reinforcement between the inner tube and the other layer of reinforcement. Such hoses are used where there is a strong likelihood of injury from the hose and are intended to last as long as possible in an unfavorable setting.
-Articulated: These are assembled in pieces and joined by flexible joints, enabling them to move around other areas of the system or turn corners. These are commonly used because good practice does not allow loose hydraulic pieces to stay.
-Mixed: hoses with more than one of the above components, specially designed to handle such applications.
